Sg iron Grades
SG Iron, also known as Spheroidal Graphite Iron or Ductile Iron, is a type of cast iron where the graphite is present in a spherical shape. This structure significantly improves the material’s strength, toughness, and ductility compared to traditional cast iron. SG Iron is categorized into different grades. Formed by adding magnesium during casting, it offers high strength similar to steel, good ductility, wear resistance, and easy machinability. It’s commonly used in automotive parts like crankshafts and suspension arms, as well as pipe fittings and heavy machinery components.
Grey Iron
Grey iron, or grey cast iron, features a grey color from graphite flakes. It is valued for its castability, machinability, and wear resistance, making it ideal for engine blocks and pipes. Known for high compressive strength and good damping capacity, it is widely used in manufacturing, despite its lower tensile strength.Gray iron is classified into different grades based on its tensile strength and hardness, with higher grades indicating greater strength. Common grades include Grade 20, which has lower tensile strength but good machinability and vibration damping, making it suitable for engine blocks and machinery bases.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is an iron-based alloy containing at least 10.5% chromium, which forms a protective layer that resists corrosion and rust. It is known for its strength, durability, and resistance to staining, making it ideal for applications requiring hygiene and exposure to moisture, such as kitchenware, medical instruments, and food processing equipment. Stainless steel is available in various types, including austenitic, which is non-magnetic and highly resistant to corrosion; ferritic, offering moderate corrosion resistance and magnetic properties and martensitic, known for hardness and used in cutting tools and blades.
